My paintings are inspired by the death and resurrection of organic and natural life. The images I observe eventually evolve into abstractions through the process of painting. Through repetition and layering, botanical and plant forms based on my observations of the natural world gradually become more ambiguous and enigmatic. I am able to metaphorically replicate the natural processes of transition and change, appearance, and disappearance as found in nature. I am interested in offering the viewer a window into my painting process and the sensation of discovery that can occur between the plies of abstraction and representation, now they can coexist in the same painting world.
